3 Mile, is a group of photographs made between 1998-1999 while in graduate school in Philadelphia. Struck by entire neigborhoods’s of abandoned buildings and poverty, I chose to make work about the 3 miles distance between Newark NJ and Millburn NJ, where my parents lived at the time. Documenting the drastic change in demographics and the exteriors of homes, to speak to the evolution of the US city, a consequence of the history of race and class that lays at the foundation of the nation.
